The Army equips its Special Forces with armoured 4x4 prepared by a Breton PMI and intended for the close protection of high military authorities
FED 2019 - Centigon France, a subsidiary of the Centigon Security Group, a major player in the global market for armored civilian and military vehicles, today announces the acquisition by the Integrated Structure of Operational Maintenance of Land Equipment (SIMMT) of several armored SUVs for Land Special Forces Command (CFST).
Introduced for the very first time, the Centigon Fortress is an armored 4x4 for armies and Special Forces operating in strategical theaters; armored vehicles will be used to transport senior military authorities and for specific close protection missions. Designed for five men, the vehicle maintains a civilian exterior appearance while offering the highest level of protection against various ammunition of assault rifles and explosions (mines, grenades, side blast). It is also equipped with a set of security systems including several specific communication systems, run flat wheels for rolling with a flat tire, and armored glass multilayer and polycarbonate. Equipped with electrical and electronic equipment, the vehicle has passed the Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Electromagnetic Radiation Damage (EARP) tests, providing a safe working environment for on-board personnel. All these specificities have been developed in close collaboration with specialized operators at all stages of the project.
Referenced at UGAP for more than two years as part of a multi-purpose, all-terrain, 4-wheel drive vehicle market with a gross vehicle weight of 3.5 to 6.5T, the vehicle is designed on a chassis Toyota Land Cruiser 200 rigorously selected for its performance, robustness and reliability; it is easy to maintain thanks to the manufacturer's worldwide support network. The contract also covers the supply of spare parts and training services, in particular for maintenance personnel; the vehicle will be maintain in operational condition (MCO) by SIMMT.
"The Centigon 4x4 passed all the tests successfully and we were very impressed by the acceleration, braking and passing performance of the Toyota Land Cruiser; despite a mass of more than 6T, the Fortress Armored retains the performance and mobility expected for the type of missions we have to accomplish. Said the CFST. "It is through active participation and strong involvement of all stakeholders - the SIMMT, the Army Staff (EMAT), the UGAP, and the CFST which has given the leadership of the project - which we managed to design a vehicle that meets our needs from a Fortress 200 standard from Centigon France.”
The president of Centigon France said "to be very proud to contribute to the protection of the highest authorities and thus enable them to perform their missions in optimal security conditions; I want to associate with this success all the staff of the Lamballe site, without which all this would not have been possible.
